Pathao, a well-known company for its ride-sharing platforms has announced the expansion to its services to 17 more different cities in Nepal.
The company was officially launched on September 24, 2018, in Kathmandu, and also became one of the fastest-growing tech startups in Nepal. But the services provided by the pathao were only limited to Kathmandu and Chitwan. Therefore, following the success of its startup, the company is proud to announce the expansion of its services to 17 additional major cities across Nepal, in alignment with its nationwide expansion policy.
In a recent statement, Asheem Man Singh Basnyat, the managing director of Pathao Nepal, revealed exciting news about the company’s expansion plans.
The company’s expansion initiative includes nine cities within the Koshi province, including Biratnagar, Damak, Urlabari, Biratchowk, Itahari, Inaruwa, Dharan, Birtamod, and Bhadrapur. Additionally, Pathao is gearing up to introduce its services in three key cities within the Lumbini province – Butwal, Nepalgunj, and Bhairahawa – Sudurpaschim and two cities in the Madhesh province – Birgunj and Janakpur.
In list, these new cities are;
- Koshi Province: Biratnagar, Damak, Urlabari, Biratchowk, Itahari, Inaruwa, Dharan, Birtamod, and Bhadrapur
- Madhesh Province: Janakpur and Birgunj
- Bagmati Province: Hetauda
- Gandaki Province: Pokhara
- Lumbini Province: Nepalganj, Bharahawa, and Butwal
- Sudurpaschim Province: Dhangadhi
Furthermore, the company is strategically expanding its footprint to include Dhangadhi in the Sudurpaschim province, Hetauda in the Bagmati province, and Pokhara in the Gandaki province. This comprehensive expansion reflects Pathao’s commitment to providing convenient transportation solutions to communities across Nepal.

According to the company, it has initiated the bike rider registration process in all target cities. This means more opportunities for people to join their network and provide rides to customers.
Currently, Pathao highlights a large community of over 200,000 individuals involved in their various services. Among them, there are over 190,000 bike riders, over 10,000 captains (taxi drivers), and an additional 5,000 registered for food delivery. This indicates a significant presence and influence of Pathao in the transportation and delivery sector.
Pathao also takes the safety and well-being of its community seriously. The company ensures the highest level of insurance coverage in Nepal, offering up to Rs. 1 million for death or detachment resulting from an accident, and up to Rs. 100,000 for medical treatment.
